Colour Mixing

This week the children have been busy finding out what happens when we mix two colours together. They have been painting their hands in each colour then rubbing them together to see what colour it changes to. Lots of fun and they may have been coming home with hands in a different shade!
It is very important to use our fine finger and gross motor skills in readiness for writing and holding their pencil correctly so we try to incorporate this into our normal maths and literacy activities. This makes learning more fun for the children and helps to keep them engaged.

Blue and yellow makes green

Using our fine motor skills to use the droppers to mix the coloured water

And our gross motor to paint large circle and lines on the patio walls with paint brushes and water.

And using the laptops to reinforce our shape recognition.

Buddy our 'Elf on the Shelf' arrived today by special delivery all the way from Santa in the North Pole. The children are very excited to meet him. He will be checking on their good behaviour and work in class to report back to Santa each evening....as well as getting up to some tricks of his own for the children to discover each morning when they come to class.

Next week we will be starting all our Christmas activities with lots of glitter and sparkle! We have located our Christmas tree but the decorations are still missing in action so the children will be decorating the tree in earnest on Monday. We will welcome any spare decorations you may have at home to make our tree extra special this year.

Thank you all for bringing your children's costumes in so promptly, we now have the silver paint etc so will be prepared well in advance of the big day.

Have a great weekend,
Miss Jackie
